FELLOW MEMBERSHIP (FM)
Examination is not to be taken before awarding fellowship membership of this noble institute. The award of the ICGN fellowship certificate is based on merit and the recipients’ national contributions. This cadre is reserved for promoters and other deserving members of the public with good records in Nigerian geographical literature. Candidates with ten (10) years’ experience in geography and related fields are also qualified to apply for this cadre. HODs in Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education can also apply for the fellowship level of the institute. The award of a fellowship is followed by professional colouring with a national view, either in NTA or AIT, as the council may deem fit. The ICGN fellowship certificate is the highest honour. The benefits that accrue to fellow membership of the institute supersede those of the qualifying stage.

Fellowship holders are entitled to use the abbreviation FCG (Fellow Chartered Geographer) after their names.
